2020. Whew! This has truly been a year to remember… or forget, depending on how you look at it. All of us are still trying to get use to the changes. Some good, some bad, some just different. This year’s Advent book is no exception. The person responsible for getting the booklet together, got off to a late start (you should dock that guy’s pay), Covid struck the office, and well… to be honest… we didn’t get enough volunteer writers. After many stressful days of trying to figure out what to do, it was decided to try something different… again.
With all the new rules, closures, safety precautions and social distancing, people have sometimes felt left out, isolated, and alone. As Christians, we know that we are never alone. God walks with us, sits with us, and holds us in His almighty hands. We also have our families, our friends, and our church family. We speak their names and a flood of emotion fills us with happiness, even if we can’t see them face to face. What better way to remind us that we are never alone than to “reissue” some of the devotionals written by members of the congregation who are no longer with us in person? Some members now make their homes in other cities or states, while others have gone home to Heaven. These people live on in our memories, our thoughts, and in our hearts… and they always will.
You are…
I am…
We are…
Never Alone.
