Hello from 412 Youth! There have been a few exciting things happening that I would like to update you on.. summer events have kicked off for the youth! Thank you to the Bennett’s for their hospitality in hosting the kids at their pool for a pool and pizza party. The youth and I are so grateful to have a church that is invested in the youth and that celebrates their place in the church. This past Sunday, the youth also tie dyed the t-shirts for the FCC 4 Ukraine fundraiser. The kids had so much fun and really enjoyed serving the church and helping to raise funds for a good cause. Really, I am just so proud of the students of this church. So many of them are actively involved in so many things, yet week after week choose to come to youth group to engage more deeply in what it means to be a Christian. Also, youth group will be 4-6pm for the next several weeks due to many of our students being involved in city band on Sunday evenings.
On another note, Reece’s time off is approaching and I know that there are many emotions revolving around that.. anxiety and anticipation are ones that I know are surrounding for sure. I have been spending time in prayer for him and his family and for this church every day. If you haven’t been, I would highly encourage you to spend 5 to 10 minutes speaking to the One who understands all about this time for our church and Reece. Whatever we face, we know that we face it together.. which should bring us great peace in knowing that we are called to carry each other through these times, and it should bring us great peace knowing that this church always bands together when facing any circumstance like this, too. But even more so, I was reminded this morning as I read in the book of John where Jesus is talking about the disciples’ grief turning to joy, that God is ultimately the God of peace. He tells them “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” If that doesn’t bring us peace and guidance, I don’t know what will.. God understands our emotions, our hardships, our family circumstances, our mental health, and our anxiety. Yet, if we seek Him, He will give us peace, unexplainable and perfect peace. There have been many times in the past year of my life that I’ve had to rely on the Lord’s peace alone, and every time, He shows up with not just enough, but more than I could ever imagine. Thank You, Lord for that!! I am praying for that for this church.
