“…Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” ~ Matthew 17:20
That is my life’s verse. When I was asked to do this devotional, I thought it would be easy to share whatever God laid on my heart at the very moment I would sit down to write, but it’s not that easy. Sometimes you have to wait, you have to listen. His voice can be very quiet, or sometimes very loud, but you still have to listen. In my case, for this devotional, the voice was loud. Matthew 17:20 is what I kept hearing over and over. I can’t explain it, because it’s faith. Faith is what drives me. I truly feel that through faith, I CAN do anything, even move mountains.
People are often surprised that I don’t really get tired. Through all my endeavors, I should be exhausted they say. My faith in God gets me through each and every day. I KNOW that He’ll take care of me and give me the energy I need to accomplish whatever the task in front of me. Trying to be the best father, husband, son, friend, etc., is not easy and I fall short in each of those roles more often than I’d care to admit, but it’s because of my faith that I can get back up when I do fall short. I wish I could explain how that works, but I cannot.
Each of us has to nurture our faith within ourselves. It’s a trust and love that surpasses all understanding. My mom hated the word “can’t”. She’d say, “’Can’t’ died and went to heaven.” Maybe that’s where my mindset started, who knows? “Can’t” doesn’t work for me either, because through Him, and with faith in Him, nothing is impossible.
Today pray for a family you know with young children
