Broken Made Beautiful

For me, one of the most amazing things about God is the fact that no matter our past, no matter what you have done, He is always there waiting with open arms for you to come back to Him.

Kintsugi is the Japanese practice of repairing broken pottery with a special tree sap lacquer that is dusted with powdered gold. There is no attempt to hide the seams where the broken pieces are joined back together as the gold makes the seams beautiful. The end result is a brand new piece of pottery made from the broken pieces of the old that shows the history of the piece and is much more interesting and beautiful than it ever was before.

This is how I look at what God does for us. When we decide that we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, and repent from our sins, God immediately goes to work on renewing us from the inside out and “piecing” us back together again. This work will continue throughout our lifetime, but from that moment we accept Him in our lives and on, He is fixing all our broken seams, making us so much more beautiful than we were before!

Dear Lord, I could never live without You as my center and strength. Thank You, God, for all You have done for me, You help me see how beautiful I am, regardless of who I used to be. Amen.

“But He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” ~ 2 Corinthians 12:9-10
