God Never Changes

Christmas Eve 2017
by Elisabeth Johnson

Through the redemptive work of Jesus Christ on the cross, I am a child of Yahweh. His promises are for me. Yahweh never changes. He is the same God today that He was when He made this promise of peace in Isaiah 54:10, “For the mountains may move and the hills disappear, but even then my faithful love for you will remain. My covenant of peace will never be broken.”

We as humans grow and change constantly. We, as God’s children, are all learning to walk and talk and act more like Jesus in order that we may bring glory to our Father. Yet Yahweh is already perfect in all ways. He does not change. Hebrews 13:8 says, “Jesus is the same yesterday and today and forever,” Malachi 3:6 states, “For I the Lord do not change,” and Revelation 1:8 reads, “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “Who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”

Because we know Yahweh never changes, we can have complete assurance that His words in Isaiah 54:10 are still true. There is nothing that can separate us from the love of God. God is speaking directly to you and me when he promises his faithful love and peace. Even in the middle of what may seem like chaos, we can have a peace in our minds and in our spirit. Wherever we go, whatever we face, no matter how big the storms of our lives are, we can find peace because it has been promised to us in God’s Holy Word.

God, my Father, my Abba Daddy! I love you! You are great and mighty! Your words are truth and I know when you said “never” in Isaiah 54:10, you meant for all of eternity and to all who are your children by the precious blood of Christ Jesus. I claim Your promised peace. Let there be peace in my thoughts and peace in my spirit. Calm the storm. Thank You, Father, for Your never-ending, never-changing love that is constantly at work to bring forth good fruit in me. Thank You! I am so grateful that The Almighty God, who is in control of all things, is for me and not against me and works continually for my good. You are a good Father and I love You. Holy are you, Lord! Let all that I say and do bring glory to You. Help me to find ways to always honor Your Name and give You glory, no matter what my circumstances. I ask for Your peace, which goes beyond my natural understanding. In the precious name of Jesus, let it be so. Thank you!
